Tarika Pitts Wins Conversations to Action Grant

Georgia, USA, 22 July 2021, ZEXPRWIRE, The Community Foundation announced the recipients of the Conversation to Action Grants. The grants were awarded to participants whose ideas inspire bold solutions, cultivate relationship collaborations, and inspire action to improve communities. In all, $40,000 was awarded to support actionable solutions to benefit the community. As a part of “on the table,” participants were given a survey to understand what issues were most important to people in different areas. Poverty was the biggest issue to people, followed by crime and violence.  When they were done, those participants were able to apply for grants to make their vision a reality. Matters discussed during “On the Table,” were prioritized for grant consideration, though survey results were not revealed until the March 10 meeting. To no surprise, survey results were in line with the concerns mentioned in discussions. Tarika Pitts, a licensed CPA, participated in the project and submitted her idea.  Pitts has currently been working to discover innovative ways to use financial literacy to bridge the wealth gap, which she believes in turn will help combat the socioeconomic problems. She plans to use the grant money to launch her first initiative.
