People who attempt this type of theft usually seizes account information of users and use their photos and images in the media to commit different crimes. Using the information in those accounts, they try to access their bank accounts. While such attempts are sometimes, scammers create bad image of the person. Sometimes, they send shameful images or negative messages instead of the real person. These crimes have a sanction in the Penal Code. The crime of hacking or maintaining an account can be punishable by up to 1 year in prison or a fine. If these individuals delete, change or send the information to others, they can get a penalty up to 2 years of imprisonment. However, the fact that there is a penalty does not mean that people’s safety is ensured. “People should take care of the protection of their own accounts,” he said.

“Any suspicious link to e-mail accounts should not be clicked. If a malicious link is clicked, the software starts running in the background and sends the information on the computer to people we call ‘hackers’. The first thing to do when faced with such a situation like this one is if there is a recovery account, all the passwords should be changed. If this can’t be done, you should contact, the technical support unit of the service provider and report that the account was stolen. At the same time, law enforcement should be informed that the account was stolen and necessary legal actions should be initiated. There is no precaution in the legal system. There are only precautions after those crimes occur. Therefore, people need to take the highest level of precautions and act consciously in this regard. Because there is no positive feedback as a result of such situations.”
