After Mumbai and Goa, The Tanjore Tiffin Room opens in Pune; check the details

The Tanjore Tiffin Room has arrived in Pune at Balewadi High Street, and for restaurateur Kishore DF, it’s a homecoming. Having spent his formative years in the city as a student, this opening is more than an expansion, and feels personal for him.
After establishing itself across Mumbai and Goa, The Tanjore Tiffin Room has built its reputation on a deeply rooted, flavour-forward take on homestyle Tamil cooking. The 130-seater Pune outpost mirrors the quiet elegance of an ancestral home, with earthy terracotta tones, vintage heirlooms, hand-painted murals, and an alfresco deck lit by brass diyas come evening.
The menu, led by Chef de Cuisine Krish Shah, is built on deep immersion rather than reinvention. Krish travelled across the South, learning from families and documenting recipes that had never formally been recorded.
The table spans bold Chettinad pepper hits, slow-cooked Madras curries, ghee-drenched Mini Gunpowder Idlis, Padmini’s Mutton Cutlet, Pankajam’s Lamb Chops, Mutton Ghee Roast, and the deeply comforting Dindigul Biryani served traditionally with Salna.
The bar is curated by chief mixologist Pranav Mody and pulls from regional flavour with equal confidence, with cocktails like Thalaiva, Gold Member, and the nostalgic Nannari Sharbat rounding out the experience.
